MINN-KOTA FESTIVAL
    FOR WORLD RELIEF

May 2007

Minn-Kota 2007 Sale Dates: July 27 & 28
Sioux Falls Arena

BUDGET CONCERNS

One of the goals of the Minn-Kota Festival Sale is to send 100% of the money generated at the Sale to MCC.  This can only happen if we are able to raise 100% of the money needed for expenses prior to the Sale.  Even though many of the needed items are donated by churches and individuals, the budget covers the Arena and equipment rent, paper products, some food items, and publicity/ printing costs.  In about  two months the Minn-Kota Festival Sale will be held.  We have received only a little over half of the $26,050.00 budget. Is your church planning any special offerings or fundraisers to help defray the costs of the Sale?  If you can help, it would be very much appreciated.

PEACE CANDLE

A Peace candleholder crafted and donated by Dr. Dwight Kauffman, Pandora, Ohio, will be sold at auction to raise money for MCC Peace Projects.  The candleholder is called “All the Children of the World” and is made of 5 different woods from around the world representing the children of the world.  The base of the candleholder is 12 inches in diameter and is intended to be used in churches as a reminder to pray for peace.  Are there individuals, Sunday school classes, or churches willing to purchase this peace candle?  Dr. Kauffman donates one candleholder per sale.  So far this year over $10,000 has been raised at 6 sales with 15 more upcoming sales.  Prior to the auctioning of the candleholder, donations will be taken and then the candleholder will be sold.

MATERIALS AVAILABLE

Brochures, Donation forms (replacing the former quilt and woodwork auction forms), pie plates, candy recipes, cookie and bread mix recipes, Penny Power information, and the organizational form were handed out at the General Meeting of the Sale on April 21.  If your church didn’t receive this material or needs more, contact:

MCC Office (Edie Tschetter) (605)-925-4859   emt@mcc.org  or
Pete & Lynette Preheim         (605)-648-3254    lpreheim@gwtc.net.
Remember that Donation forms are due June 20.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Start planning on how you can donate your time at the Sale.  Check the organizational chart to see what is available and where you would like to help.  We especially can use young people of all ages, elementary through young adults.  This is a good place for mentor/mentees to sign up together and spend some time helping to raise funds to help the needy.
